"Charmadi Ghat" is one of the hot spots of Western Ghats and is home to innumerable waterfalls and hills. It also has a reputation of being a favorite trekking spot. The Ghat section, recently being upgraded to National Highway standards (NH234) is in best of its conditions. The drive along the Charmadi stretch is an amazing experience, especially during the monsoons and the post-monsoon period.

Thank you for commenting on my poetry blog. You know, these entire set of photos actually had me thinking that you were travelling in the mountain roads, that go from Kharepatan in the Kokan, to Kolhapur via Gaganbawda, the highest point in the widely spread out Ghats in that region. We travelled in the thick of the monsoons, and it was exactly as pictured here. ! Hope I get a chance to travel through the Charmadi Ghats sometime .....

Spectacular! Is it a one-way ghat or is there oncoming traffic also? That decides how we can use our bikes on the twisties...
ReplyDeleteSpectacular shots.
ReplyDelete@Vishal Kataria, it is a two-way ghat with many blind curves, be cautious while riding.
ReplyDelete@Sujatha, the Ghat is between Belur and Mangalore via Dharmasthala.
